# Day 1 - Really Old Games

First up, arcade games and really old consoles. I'm curious to see how much of this stuff she's into and how much is an insta-pass. Since it's just 1-on-1

#### Arcade Games

Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga. These were all favorites, although she was frustrated with the 8-way gate on the fight stick that I brought out. We talked a fair amount about why these games are still fun, but a lot of the stuff on the 2600 wasn't.

#### Atari 2600

I was going to dig through some of the "classics" from this generation, but we ended up mostly looking at the Atari versions of the arcade games she knew, and then played Pitfall for 45 minutes or an hour. The fun part of this conversation was talking about how the Atari developers did a lot with very few colors on screen at once, 6 or 8 on most of the games we played and we talked about how Pitfall was the first game I played as a kid where the screen moved.

Sadly, I couldn't get the paddle games to work on the MiSTer. If I had to guess, I think we'll play some more Pitfall in the future, but probably the rest of this is a pass.

#### Super Mario World

At the end of the Atari segment, she asked for "That old Mario game. You know, the good one dad", so we fired up some Super Mario World. It's a little sad, but I think the 16-bit era may be as far back as she's willing to go. We'll find out tomorrow on Nintendo day.

#### PUBG

She's really enjoying exploring PUBG lately, so we played a few quick rounds of duos after we finished with the older games. In the last few sessions, she's learning looting and driving, and starting to recognize the direction shots come from. She was very pleased that she lived longer than me on one of our games :)
